The Triad of Fulfillment

Ryan J. | September 19, 2025

At least in American culture (I’m talking about the United States, specifically), I’ve noticed that we seem less connected than we were in the past. I get the sense that many people today are focused on the idea of “success” that society almost teaches us to pursue, namely money, power, and, fame.

There’s nothing wrong with pursuing these things, but I know that gaining lots of power or earning lots of money or having millions of social media followers – on their own – won’t bring happiness. You could be the richest, most famous, most powerful person in the world and still feel empty. Lots of people these days feel that sense of emptiness and loneliness, and many of them also don’t have the luxury of gobs of money or power or social status. It’s this realization that is part of the motivation behind building this human wake up call service mobile app.

You might be wondering: what does the previous paragraph have to do with your wake up call service? Let me try to explain.

My hope is that this app will eventually become popular, not because I hope to make lots of money from it, but because it will mean that people find value in the human to human connection that underpins the whole concept of the “Wake Up Call Service” (btw, this will be the official name of the app in the App Store and Google Play when it’s available). I want to encourage people to develop such human to human connections because, rather than focusing on the triad of “success” (money, power, fame), I want to encourage people to focus on the triad of fulfillment.

What is the triad of fulfillment? It’s simply about:

  • Cultivating relationships
  • Acts of service
  • Finding purpose through reflection and engaging with the world around you

These really resonate with me. If I’m lucky enough to have the time think about my life right before I pass way, I know I’m going to be thinking about the people I love and care about, the memories I made with them, and the people who helped me along the way. I won’t be thinking about the amount of money in my bank account or the number of followers I have on whatever social media platform is popular at the time. That’s why I think it’s critically important for people to work at building relationships with others and seek out opportunities to help. A large chunk of American society is sick, and not just physically ill. A health dose of friendship, community, and service to others can go a long way towards bringing brighter days to people who may be feeling low.

The Wake Up Call Service is a mobile app, sure, but in my head it will be much more than that. It will be a real community of people who interact with each other on a regular basis and come to develop true friendships over the course of time. Right now, I’ve designed the app to provide those people who call others to wake them up with a little compensation for their efforts, but part of me wonders if that will really matter to the callers. For me, personally, I’d do this for free. I get a lot of joy (and most people do!) from helping others. If I can wake someone up and help them smile in the morning, then I definitely want to do that – no payment needed! I wish this app existed so I could do just that, but it didn’t, and that’s why I’m the one to build it.

Maybe there are others like me who believe that something real and valuable can emerge here, and if you are, I’d encourage you to get in touch (I know it’s a help form, but it all comes to me anyway, so please do reach out!). Together I believe we can build something that will resonate. Something people will come to cherish every morning. Something people look forward to each day. Small moments of joy that, over time, help fill out personal buckets of satisfaction and fulfillment to the point of overflow, all in the name of helping others.
